You can't construct a building without a foundation. Deep bass is the foundation of a great audio system.. It provides not only the visceral experience, but allows the midrange to blossom, giving voices greater presence and presenting subtle details in greater relief. When it comes to bass, JL Audio has become the reference standard in Home, Automotive and Marine subwoofers.Founded in 1975, John and Lucio (the J and L) built finished speakers as well as speaker "kits".In 1977, they invested in Speaker Warehouse, a retail store in Hollywood, Florida from which JL Audio operated and sold their products. In the early '80's, the car audio business was growing by leaps and bounds.Through the '80's and into the early '90's, JL repeatedly won car audio competitions. They introduced woofers of numerous sizes and designs and in 2000 started building vehicle-specific enclosures. In that same year, they released the Slash Series of amplifiers which went on to become the best selling audio amplifiers of all time. They now had all of the necessary capabilities to produce home audio products; cabinets, amplifiers and drivers...and produce they did. In 2004, the Fathom and Gotham series were released and continue to this day, along with newer models, to provide that all important foundation on which we all depend.
