Most developments in audio over the past century have been mainly evolutionary, rarely revolutionary. A loudspeaker from 1920 looks like most speakers of 2020. Wisdom Audio has designed some of the rare exceptions. When it was founded in 1986, the aim was to provide exceptional performance utilizing thin-film planar-magnetic technology in a line-source configuration.A thorough explanation of that approach is beyond the scope of this intro but some of its design and performance characteristics are definitely worth noting. Wisdom's planar magnetic drivers utilize an ultra light diaphragm over an elongated, powerful Neodymium magnet structure enabling higher output and greater bass extension than traditional panel speakers. Their tall, narrow design allows for controlled dispersion, reducing negative room interactions. It also (simply put) results in a more gradual decrease in sound level as you move further from the speaker relative to a more traditional "box" design. This is particularly beneficial in a Home Theater where many seats are often spread out while surrounded by numerous speakers. The reduction in "hot spots" makes for a more balanced presentation. It is also valuable for two channel systems in smaller rooms where it may be necessary to sit close to the speakers.
These and many more technical advantages combined with Wisdom's slender, unobtrusive styling make it an easy fit in virtually any room.
