If conversation lulls, some key words or phrases are bound to revive "spirited" conversation; politics, sports, the environment and if you're among audio enthusiasts, just say "vacuum tubes". Within moments you'll be hearing about texture, tonality, speed, dynamics, bass control and other audio arcana. It's usually an either or battle between solid-state and tubes. It needn't be that way. Since 1975, Andreas Hofmann has been developing technologies that, by 1980 as Octave Audio, has harmoniously brought together the seemingly warring camps. He has created some modular designs that allow the end user to "customize" the features and sound to maximize system performance. Judicious use of solid-state circuits in support of the full-range tonal and dynamic precision of tubes has brought German engineering in support of sonic excellence to audio enthusiasts everywhere.

V 16 Single Ended Tube Integrated Amp w/ Headphone Output
The long development time of the Octave V 16 Single Ended certainly paid off. Octave applied a myriad of technical innovations coupled with proprietary output transformer technology in order to produce this sophisticated amplifier design. The result is a German engineered uncompromising single-ended Class A integrated amp with headphone output that delivers ultra-quiet operation highlighted by deep bass, a natural midrange and silky-smooth highs. This approach provides for an unsurpassed degree of reliability and longevity which is an important consideration with respect to long term ownership enjoyment when running vacuum tube amplifiers.
If you wish to take it even further there are two optional outboard power supplies available: namely the Black Box and the Super Black Box. Both of which are available either in silver or black as shown. According to Octave the dynamic and tonal stability of a tube amplifier such as this is strongly dependent upon the stability and capacity of the power supply. Therefore both the Black Box and Super Black Box were developed as external upgrades in order to provide additional power supply storage capacitors. The result of adding one of these to the V 16 SE is to increase capacitance by a factor of four for the Black Box or going even further a factor of ten for the Super Black Box.
There are 3 finish options available for the V 16 Single Ended: silver, black, and silver/black. In addition at your preference, you can run it with or without the top cage. It is pictured at left with the cage, the purpose of which is to protect the tubes. However valve aficionados may prefer to see the unfettered glow of the tubes.
We now have the V 16 Single Ended on demo. It is made to drive high efficiency speakers and/or headphones. We can provide a high efficiency speaker for demo. Or you are welcome to bring in your favorite cans and take it for a spin. Alternatively we have a fresh crop of the latest headphones for you to try it out with it as well.
