Some audio products are attractive, many sound musical, others are notably reliable and there are those that are incredibly well built. Gryphon Audio Designs takes a no-holds-barred, no frills philosophy and delivers on all fronts.
Mil-Spec components, dual-mono design, significant Class A biasing and overkill power supplies in the hands of design teams of engineers and audiophiles are what bring those qualities to fruition. To ensure that the music isn't subservient to technology, Gryphon has amassed a collection of first and second generation studio master tapes providing the design teams a near live performance reference on a daily basis.
Everyone at Gryphon is inspired by the passion of Flemming E. Rasmussen who founded 2R Marketing (which became Denmark's leading High End Audio distribution company) from which Gryphon Audio Designs became an offshoot. As a favor to a friend, he brought his one-off, spare time project - a phono preamp - to the 1986 Chicago CES. The interest of a Japanese distributor led to the birth of the now legendary Gryphon Head Amp. It didn't take long before reviews and word-of-mouth praise of that one product led to the formation of Gryphon Audio Designs. The Gryphon - the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion - perfectly exemplify the qualities of Gryphon electronics; grace and power.
