An early in-wall loudspeaker was simply the baffle and drivers of a mini monitor screwed into a wall in which a suitable hole had been cut. It wasn't elegant but it solved the problem of getting speakers off of the floor and "out of sight".In 1985, after a few years of development and innovation, Sonance patented the first construction and retrofit in-wall speaker bracketing system. From that time forward, they have produced a "first" nearly every year in loudspeakers, amplifiers, volume controls, cables, audio distribution hardware and on and on. The number of Industry awards bestowed upon Sonance is truly remarkable. It is not an exaggeration to say that 'Architectural Audio' would not exist were it not for Sonance.
