Named to honor a Japanese artist, Koetsu was founded in the late '70's by Yoshiaki Sugano. Over the course of more than thirty years, his phono cartridges became legendary. Not only did he incorporate high purity materials in his designs, the artistic craftsmanship of every model made them that much more desirable. Following Japanese tradition, Sugano-San's son Fumihiko apprenticed under his father and has taken on the labor of love, still hand-making each cartridge in Japan.
