Video Components
What can I expect from a Home Theater?
A high quality home theater can create a visual and sonic
experience that surpasses what you would normally experience here in Boston-area
cinemas. A properly setup multi-channel audio system will easily
surpass the cinema in terms of clarity, resolution, freedom from
distortion, imaging, tonal balance, and the impact of special
effects. The very best home theater video products will surpass
the film quality in Boston-area cinemas. (Of course, the very
best cinemas, in Hollywood for example, can present a very high
resolution picture that can rival the finest home theater projection systems. Boston-area cinemas have not, in our experience,
achieved this.)
Please note that while we have listed a few manufacturers below, we actually
use a number of other manufacturers as well such as certain products from Denon,
Pioneer, Panasonic, JVC, Sharp, etc. We haven't even tried
to list them all as there are simply too many and they change too fast for us to
keep any listing up to date. Suffice it to say that we can provide
the very latest BluRay players, plasmas, video projectors, video processors,
projection screens, etc. The best thing is simply to call us when you are
ready to start discussing your home theater project so that we can give you the
most up-to-date advice!
NOTE: If you would like to see where the HDTV over-the-air stations near you

Stewart Filmscreen
Stewart
Filmscreen makes high-quality projection screens in a wide
variety of style, options, sizes, and screen materials. Screens are available in
a broad range of materials to accommodate any home theater environment.
For instance, for front projection systems the available materials
include Grayhawk RS G3, Firehawk G3, SnoMatte 1.0, StudioTek 130 (1.3 gain), Ultramatte 150 (1.5 gain), Videomatte
200 (1.8 gain), and Ultramatte 200 (2.0 gain). All Stewart
screens are custom made; there is no additional charge for
non-standard sizes. Prices are a function of screen size and options. Options include: size, native aspect ratio, screen color, blackdrop, frame covering,
control system, masking, and motorization. The Stewart
Electrimask is shown here as the side-masking is descending. Today many home
theaters are now being installed with constant-height screens. Alternatively if
you want the same screen that a top Hollywood director or producer might have in
their own home then you can even get a Stewart Directors Choice—a
fixed screen with independently and completely variable horizontal AND vertical
masking!
Screens can be manufactured in either fixed mount versions with several masking
options, or in a motorized tensioned roll-up style with or without masking.
Side-masking models also exit for simple, elegant, constant-height masking.
Their CineCurve models actually utilize a gentle curve of the screen from
side-to-side in order to focus the light from the projector more towards the
center of the room.
Note: The pricing below is given simply as a general guide to indicate the
variety of price ranges that Stewart screens range in. There are a slew of
variables which will affect the final price of a given screen. Please call and we will help specify a screen
for your needs.

Wolf
Cinema
Wolf Cinema makes state of the art
video projectors. They
have a range of very high performance 3-chip DLP video
projectors utilizing Xenon arc lamp technology. Because the
realm of video projectors can get highly technical we won't even try to get into
describing all of the aspects that go into making a great moving image. But
you can be assured that Wolf Cinema did the R&D necessary in order to give you the finest
quality moving image!
One thing that is especially important to know is that these projectors
utilize top quality lenses, which if you know
anything about lens optics you know that the best are very expensive—and
well worth it if you value a high quality image. In
addition the color gamut of these projectors is wider (a wider color space is
better) than other projectors using UHP (Mercury arc) lamps.
These projectors can reach their optimal color characteristics
after 10 or 15 minutes of operation, unlike many other projectors which can take
up to an hour and a half to get up to full operating color potential, by
which time the movie may be half over! The accuracy of the color balance, black level,
and gamma make for a quality of image that is simply spectacular!
We invite you to come and see for yourself.
